When compared to that in France and Canada, yes, it is indeed very high. American doctors are paid far more; admin costs are steep in the US; the US health care system drives a poor bargain with the strong pharma lobby.
Paul Krugman provides numbers and stats today in ‘The Medical Money Pit’ his Op-Ed column on The New York Times.
My question is, “Doesn’t the high cost of medical insurance in the US have any bearing on the overall price of health care?” Add to it, the defensive style of medical practice that American doctors are advised to follow. Surely, this adds to the staggering costs as well?
