Quebec City, the provenance of French civilization in North America

Rich in history, heritage, culture, and “the city of a 1000 attractions”, Quebec City, founded in 1608, celebrates its 400th anniversary this year. Kebec – the place where the river narrows – was the first French settlement in North America, founded on July 3, 1608 by Samuel de Champlain.

With so much to see, even on my second visit I enjoyed the grandeur of the spectacular Parliament Building – both, by night and in broad daylight.

Here’s an enchanting sculpture from Quebec by Louis Philippe Hebert, one of the finest Canadian sculptors of the late 19th/early 20th century.
